Our School Programs
Visiting muse program
Patricia McFadden offers in-person or virtual Visiting Muse Program for pre-K through 6th grade. Her goal as a visiting author and literacy coach is to nurture children’s love of reading and help them experience the delights of creative writing.
Ms. McFadden’s program consists of one assembly and up to four class sessions. She has session offerings for all age groups that can be mixed-and-matched to fit the needs of your school. A teacher training can be scheduled in addition to the class sessions.
Dragon Writer Program
In order for their writing to soar, young “Dragon Writers” must have equally strong “right wing” technical writing skills (punctuation, paragraph construction, parts of speech, sentence construction and spelling), and “left wing” skills of creative craftsmanship (author purpose, generating ideas, plot, setting and character development).
The Dragon Writer Program helps young authors develop both of their “writing wings.” The program is aligned with Common Core and Colorado State Standards in Language Arts for Grade 6 and can be scaled back for Grades 4 and 5.
The Dragon Writer Program is available as a curriculum for teachers to add to their Language Arts classes or as a virtual or on-campus Author-In-Residence program taught by Patricia.
At Green Turtle Arts, our mission is to support parents and teachers and to help children discover the joy of reading and the fun of writing.
Discovering the magic of literacy unlocks the door to success. Children need to hear, read and write the kinds of stories that help them navigate life’s many challenges.
